GRIDIDLE / STRATEGY ARCHIVE

Notes from
inside the machine.

A socket left vacant. A familiar layout that no longer fits. A cycle approaching its limit. These are the places where the machine becomes worth a closer look.

FIELD NOTES / 02—04

Where the pattern breaks.

Enter through a question you recognize. The same machine can look different from another angle.

SPATIAL SYSTEMS

Grid layout strategy

What is a socket worth to the rest of the grid?

The value of a part can sit outside its own boundary. Look at the spaces between cores, where influence and opportunity compete.

  • Adjacency
  • Support coverage
  • Layout preview

ENTRY CONDITION

Read when your inventory is growing but the arrangement has not changed.

TIME & PERSISTENCE

Offline progress and expansion

Keep the current machine, or invest in the next cycle?

Some progress belongs to this arrangement. Some survives it. Follow what accumulates during an absence, and what remains after a reset.

  • Retention
  • Reset scope
  • Cycle timing

ENTRY CONDITION

Read before an extended absence or your next expansion decision.

DECISION PROCESS

Idle game strategy

Which constraint should you solve next?

A machine can produce steadily while its assumptions grow stale. Consider the purchases you postpone, the spaces you reserve, and the point at which the priority shifts.

  • Capital allocation
  • Flexibility
  • Planning intervals

ENTRY CONDITION

Read when several upgrades are available and the priority is unclear.

EXPERIMENT PROTOCOL

Put the theory
under load.

An explanation becomes more interesting when your machine gives it something to answer.

  1. 01

    Record the baseline.

Check current output and identify the constraint you want to change.

  2. 02

    Change one variable.

Preview a position or role change. Keep the rest of the layout stable.

  3. 03

    Compare the result.

Read the output difference before applying the layout. Revisit the assumption as the grid evolves.
